Preparing Your Home For Granite Countertops

We try to minimize any discomfort you may have during construction and installation of your new granite countertops but here are a few items you will need to be aware of:

  • We need the actual cook tops, sinks and faucets, in our shop before granite fabrication can begin.
  • All cabinets must be completely installed before we can template the job.
  • Old countertops must be completely removed before we can template.
  • Our installers do not disconnect, reconnect or install appliances or plumbing fixtures.
  • All base cabinets must be completely cleaned out.
  • Take down pictures and wall hangings, and move throw rugs, plants and pet dishes.
  • Seal off adjacent rooms. Any construction creates dirt and dust. Tape sheets or plastic drop cloths over doorways, this will keep dirt out of the rest of the house.
  • If you have wallpaper, paint, tile or any other wall covering there may be a possibility that our standard 4” back splash will not cover where your old countertop was. If you do not plan on replacing your wallpaper, tile or repainting then you will need to increase the height of the granite back splash for a nominal fee.
  • If we tear out your old countertops, our crews try their best to be as careful as possible, but there is a chance that your walls, wallpaper, or other wall coverings may be damaged and we will not be responsible for any repairs.
  • If you are going to have other people doing work in your home, please instruct them NOT to use your new granite countertops as a workbench.

Make sure the template crew has reviewed the placement of any seams if they are necessary in your kitchen.
